What bands have you all seen live? Which would you recommend? Which would you not?

Here are some of mine...

First off on my list, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Robots in Disguise.
RHCP, because they're legends, and put on amazing live shows.
RiD, because they aren't very well known, but they perform one of the best live sets I've ever seen! They're absolutely fantastic, especially with getting the crowd to participate.

Also, at Leeds Festival I saw loads of bands, most of them pretty much unknown, but I would recommend almost all of them! Check out their myspaces.

The Noisettes
(Wow! Just.. wow.)
Cansei De Ser Sexy (Aka, CSS.)
Gogol Bordello (Will actually blow your mind! They're insane, but in a really good way!)
The Sounds
Cobra Starship
Shiny Toy Guns
Hadouken! (Just don't get crushed in the crazy crowd!)
Pull Tiger Tail
Klaxons
The Maccabees
The Pipettes (Aww. They were wearing matching spotty dresses and everything!)
Kings Of Leon
The Long Blondes
Ash (*Squee* Fantastic! Went to see them instead of Razorlight.. Along with almost everyone else on site! Great choice.)
New Young Pony Club
Cajun Dance Party (Was a little drunk, but what I remember was great!)

Who I wouldn't recommend:

(I'm going to be quite controversial here... Sorry if you like these bands!)

Razorlight!
Sorry, but the venue just ain't ever gonna be big enough for the crowd to fit in along with Johnny Borrell's massive ego. I saw the beginning of the set at the festival, and literally walked away, despairing. (Along with a whole load of the crowd.) He was unbelievable, and not in a good way. Not only was he making big-headed comments and letting the crowd sing most of the lyrics for him, he was playing a slideshow of pictures of himself on the huge screens behind the band! Not even music videos, just photos of him. Don't get me wrong, I love listening to my Razorlight CDs, but I really can do without the arrogance that comes with the live shows.

The Gossip
This is another problem with a frontman, I'm afraid. Or frontwoman. Whatever. Beth Ditto absolutely gets on my nerves! She was just being disgusting on stage. Talking about her body parts that we don't need/want to hear about. Not in front of the kiddies, please Beth! Then before they even started singing, she started ranting about someone in the crowd who had a confederate flag, and going on giving us an American history lesson. Everyone was cringing after the first 15 minutes of the set, and going "please, just sing! We like your voice, but you're talking about nonsense and disgusting things!"
Also, she refuses to shave anywhere or wear deodorant, and I think that's just a bit gross.. so I'm not happy about that, just out of principle!

Devendra Banhart
Meh, just a bit boring, and disappointing. Didn't play his best song. Didn't use an acoustic guitar. Ruined all the folk-iness.

The Arcade Fire
Also a bit disappointing. I like their albums, but they were a bit dreary live. Nothing that made them stand out, it was all a bit mediocre.

I'd love to hear other people's recommendations, so get posting!

Cool thread!

I would loooooooooooooooooooooove to see RHCP!! They're on my list lol.

I totally agree with your comments about Razorlight though. My friends have been to see them twice and say the same things. He needs to grow up and stop being such an idiot. Get over yourself, you're not that good.

I always thought the Gossip were a bit werid but I didn't know they were that weird. I'll steer clear lol.

I've heard Arcade Fire are good, but I'm not really into them anyway lol. I would love to see The Klaxons though. Is their album good?

Right, bands and people I've seen.
Prince has to be my favourite. He's such a good showman and gave an amazing performance. It was like a party; I didn't want it to end. Plus he's a bit of a musical legend.
Justin Timberlake Again he's a fantastic showman. Just seeing him dance makes me go all girly and giggly lol. He has a great voice and has showed that he's not just boyband material. I've seen him 4 times and I'll gladly go again.
Speaking of JT, Timbaland did a little set at his last concert and he seems really cool. He does cool mixes and he managed to get the whole crowd up.
Aerosmith are rock legends. I wasn't too excited about seeing them but I'm so glad I did because they're amazing. Steve Tyler's a great performer. I hope they do a proper tour soon!
Kanye West If you're into your RnB and hip hop, you have to see this man. He's amazing. I'm seeing him for the second time in November!
N.E.R.D Not really around anymore but they were very good. They had their own band and got the crowd moving. Plus Pharrell's amazing :p I've touched him :p
Beyonce andFergie both have amazing voices live. Gergie was supporting Justin so I didn't see much of her but she has actually got a very good voice. Beyonce is just amazing. Stunning voice live.

Everyone else I've seen was pretty good. The only band I think I haven't been impressed with was Jet at Aerosmith. They didn't really do much and the crowd were bored.

Ooh, yes you should definitely see RHCP whenever you can. They've just finished their giant world tour, so I guess they'll be resting for a bit but I hope to see them again ASAP! They're amaazing.

You're right, Johnny really does need to get over himself! Razorlight's set got all graffitied at the front - people had spray-painted "Razorshite" in giant letters! Haha.
Aw, it's a bit sad really, because they are pretty good on their albums, but they do themselves no favours by being so arrogant in person.

The Kaxons were really great. I hadn't heard the whole album before I saw them, and only knew about 3 of their songs, but still loved them anyway. I think that's a pretty good sign!

Ah, I'd love to see Prince! Just for the experience if nothing else. So I could say "I've seen Prince!"

Aerosmith are on my list! Definitely legends.

I wouldn't mind seeing Beyonce either, actually. I'm not really in to RnB and stuff, but she's pretty cool!

I'm sad to hear Jet weren't great live, I quite like them!

I'd like to see Destiny's Child, not sure about Beyonce though. Something about her annoys me and whenever I try to explain it I can't!

One's I've seen and would reccomend.

Kelly Clarkson
AMAZING. I saw her quite a while ago and I can remember every single thing that happened. She has an amazing voice and it sounds even better live. You cannot go through your life without seeing Kelly Clarkson live. Believe me!!

Daniel Bedingfield
Okay so he's not the coolest person around and just a little bit (ha!) crazy. But man can he sing and man does he have good songs. I saw in a small venue first and loved it, he was really talking to the crowd and made sure you enjoyed every minute of it. Next time was at the Arena but the closed of half of it so the stage was closer to the back. Another great concert - plus I was front row baby!!

Pink
If you've seen her Leave Me Alone video I think that is really all the reasons I can give you. It was like a show rather than a concert, just fantastic to watch!

McFly
As you can expect it was just so much fun! Jumping round like a loon, singing along. Great experience, and yeah, so much fun!!

Also going to see The Fray, My Chemical Romance (OMG!) and Natasha Bedingfield soon. Should be three more amazing concerts!

Pink! I missed out on a chance to see her this year... Ugh, I was so annoyed. My sister bought some tickets, but I just couldn't afford the ticket and the train fare to London

I kinda hate McFly for stealing Busted's place in the music.. world? I don't know, but they just kind of stepped in as the new Busted and I wasn't happy about it! I bet they would be fun to watch though. Probably similar to Busted's performance, which I loved! I'd add them to my list, but there's not much point recommending them now, they're long gone.

My Chemical Romance... *Shiver*
We'll have to agree to disagree there...

Aw that sucks. Hopefully she'll do another one soon then.

I didn't like them at first for the same reasons, but then as time went on and they released more songs I realised Busted were well and truely gone *sniffle* and that McFly were pretty awesome!

Not a My Chemical Romance fan? Fair doos. I kinda worship them a bit too much if I'm honest! lol

MCR are on my pinboard of things I don't like that I put pins in when I'm angry! Haha, that makes me sound like a psycho. I don't actually use it, to be honest, it's just a little protest (against Russel Brand, MCR and cheese.)

I don't like them on principle, really. For being the frontmen of the whole Emo music... thing. I'm not a fan of Emo at all!

They have a huge fanbase though, so I guess they can handle a bit of hate from me!
Gerard Way says it himself - he doesn't mind people really hating MCR, as long as they don't just feel nothing about them. "Making an impact" and all that..

Alice, I'm so with you on the MCR and Russell Brand hate!! I also hate Babyshambles and Pete Doherty. Worthless.

Oh and Robbie WIlliams because he's so mega arrogant.

I'm off to see Kanye West again in November! Woo! And we're standing again lol!

Aw I'm not liking the negative vibes in this thread at all. Poor MCR.

Although Russel Brand I totally agree on he is the single most annoying man in the world!!

I'll stop hating on MCR for a bit now, to give you a break! :P

But woohoo! We can start a Russel Brand hate club

He just sets your teeth on edge, doesn't he? Grr. He's slightly better on the radio, than on TV, actually. If I don't have to look at him, that helps. I listen to his radio show sometimes, if I need to get some anger out (yelling at the radio, etc.) He can be funny occasionally, but damn, he's still such a hateful person! In NME, he was quoted as saying "I was careful when taking the cocaine!" Argh, I wanted to hit him.

I actually like Pete Doherty, though. Well, he's an absolute idiot for ruining himself with the drugs, but I still love his music, and wish we could see a drug-free Pete at some point. However, I don't think he'll ever manage to get clean before it kills him, sadly
Babyshambles are good, I think, but absolutely nothing compared to the Libertines, of course. The Libertines are an actual legend. *Nostalgic sigh*
